A Different Approach to a World in Crisis

There can be little doubt that the world is undergoing a very grave crisis of survival. Humanity has never before faced conflict and chaos on such a scale; a possible annihilation of the very life giving energies and forces that are on this earth. We can see, starkly, the dangers that exist: the endless wars, social upheaval, violence at all levels, environmental terrorism, pollution of the oceans, the soil and the skies. There is great personal suffering. There is inner conflict, great anxiety and fear, increasing mental illness. suicide. No matter where one looks, there is disintegration, deterioration, crisis.

Everywhere environmentalists, scientists, and ordinary human beings observe this and are deeply troubled. about what is happening in the world.

The awareness that we seem to lack is of the relationship between the external disorder and the conflict and chaos within, the awareness that the root of chaos lies in human consciousness. The exhibition “A Different Approach to A World in Crisis” attempts to address this issue.

The posters in the exhibition, large and small, present photographic/journalistic material representing many aspects of the present crises, accompanied by commentary from J. Krishnamurti. He confronts boldly the problems of contemporary society and analyses with scientific precision the workings of the human mind. Krishnamurti points out that it is only a change in human consciousness that is capable of meeting all of mankind’s problems. He never gives easy answers, rather he presents us with the questions that we need to ask ourselves. Although usually referred to as “an exhibition”, the material is more than that – it is a study display, intended for deep reflection, and discussion.

Some video material will be showing, and books will be available.
