On Meditation

J Krishnamurti on Meditation

"Thought shattering itself against its own nothingness is the explosion of meditation"

Meditation is freeing the mind from the constant pressure of experience. It is the emptying the mind of the known.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Meditation is not the repetition of the word, nor the experiencing of a vision, nor the cultivating of silence. The bead and the word do quieten the chattering mind, but this is a form of self-hypnosis. You might as well take a pill.

If you deliberately take an attitude, a posture, in order to meditate,

then it becomes a plaything, a toy of the mind.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Meditation is that complete inaction that is the ending of all experience
