There are many kinds
of schools in the world. Most of them are "normal" academic schools.
Brockwood is something else. It's an alter
native
and international school where a lot of nationalities are
represented. There are only a few such schools in the world. The way
students are educated is quite different, but much better.
The excellent
education offered by Brockwood doesn't only have to do with subjects
such as maths and history, but it also teaches about life. We are
taught in a way that we remember and that we understand. We don't just
study to have good marks, but for ourselves. This is probably due to
the competence of the teachers. This way of learning teaches us how
to work more independently as well as working more deeply. We are also
taught to develop manual skills by taking care of the grounds and
buildings, which perhaps unintentionally, teaches us to live in a
community, because this kind of work is always done in groups. We are
encouraged to try to discover our talents and what we love to do in
life. Furthermore, we are always welcome to explore personal
programmes of study and the teachers are always here to help us in
whatever we want to undertake.
Life in general at
Brockwood is also something very different, whether it has to do with
health, relationships or style of living. The food, which is
vegetarian and organic, and the large range of sports that are
offered to us, contribute a lot to the healthy life that we lead. The
environment, which is absolutely magnificent, works for us on our
health as well. It wouldn't be the same, if the school was situated in
the middle of a town!
The relations that we
have with the teachers are very different to those at
any other schools. It is probably because of the small number of
students, it seems to be like a family. Contrary to what people might
think, it is a benefit for us students, that the teachers live on the
campus. Indeed, they are always here, whenever we need them to study,
and they are always ready to help us as well, which is not common in a
lot of schools. The relationship between students is also nice.
Students are open to each other, always ready to talk, help, or
comfort someone, the teacher as well moreover!
It is clear that the

other schools, but in a good way. Even though it is not a very
ordinary school, and it isn't very well known, this is an incredible
school where everyone should go. If everybody was educated in the
"Brockwood way", I am sure the world would function better. Everybody
can have his own opinion about Brockwood, but no one can
take away my thoughts that it is the best education I will ever
receive in my life. .
